We never know who is hiding behind a screen.<\/li>\n<li>Some online content is not appropriate to their age and may shock them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Make it clear to your child that laws apply to the Internet:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the law, users are prohibited from:\n<ul>\n<li>insulting or threatening a person online.<\/li>\n<li>damaging a person\u2019s reputation.<\/li>\n<li>publishing a photo or video of a person without their consent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If your child finds themselves in one of these situations, they can file a complaint.<\/li>\n<li>Your child must also comply with the law: in Switzerland, children can be held criminally liable for their actions from the age of 10.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Set rules:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Set a time limit for screen use to make sure that your child can:\n<ul>\n<li>stay physically active.<\/li>\n<li>have enough sleep.<\/li>\n<li>enjoy a range of activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the rules with your child.<\/li>\n<li>Suggest writing down the rules and putting them up where your child can see them.<\/li>\n<li>Adapt the rules according to your child\u2019s age.<\/li>\n<li>Talk about the consequences of breaking the rules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>To help you maintain a consistent approach:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Remember that you set rules and limits for your child\u2019s well-being.<\/li>\n<li>Teach your child to manage their emotions when they play and when it\u2019s time for them to stop.<\/li>\n<li>Set up parental controls.<\/li>\n<li>Use a timer to limit the duration of the game.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce your own screen time to set an example.<\/li>\n<li>Take the time to watch your child play.
